Both libraries have a combined stock of over 40,000 information resources and the emphasis of the collection is placed on education with a special bias towards curriculum development and research.
The Main library was established in 1974 and occupies two floors on the Media and Extension Services Block. The library caters for information needs of curriculum specialists, researchers, teachers, students and other stakeholders in education.
The Library provides specialized research based information on Early childhood education care and development to curriculum developers including teachers and students from various educational institutions.It also collects and stores teaching and learning resource materials for children. Both libraries work together to ensure that the Institute’s core functions are achieved.
To be the leading and preferred library in delivery of educational research information service in Kenya and beyond.

The libraries are opened from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Friday.
The Libraries remain closed over the weekend and Public Holidays.
Functions of The Library
1.To identify, select and acquire relevant and up-to-date information resources that facilitate research,development of curriculum and support materials. 2.To organize the library information resources to facilitate access and retrieval. 3.To provide reference services to library clients. 4.To disseminate relevant information to library clients. 5.Inculcate the use of new technologies and innovations in library operations and service provision. 6.To network with other information centres nationally and internationally.About KICD Library
